Millwright (Red Seal) - Gaansbaai at Watershed Consulting

We are looking for a dynamic, self-driven, hard-working and Experienced MILLWRIGHT (Red Seal) to perform Electrical & Mechanical maintenance on multidisciplinary equipment at various sites, as well as full commissioning of plants. This position will report into the Maintenance Manager and will be based in the Gaansbaai area (Western Cape).

The ideal candidate will be a team-player with leadership skills and have the proven experience and ability to perform mechanical & electrical maintenance and fabrication work safely and efficiently to high quality standards and within prescribed maintenance procedures. It is vital that the candidate has:  Red Seal, can work at heights and in confined spaces, is flexible & has a driver’s license for standby/callouts, ideally holds a wiremans license, and is medically fit to work on industrial and mining sites.

SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement and perform planned maintenance actions (mechanical, electrical. & Instrumentation.) and/or building maintenance and /or fabrication work on the water treatment or wastewater treatment plant(s)
• Perform fault finding duties on telemetry systems, motor control centres (LV switchgear and installations), Blowers, Compressors, Generators, pumping systems, bulk water and wastewater pipelines and other electrical and mechanical infrastructure related to water and wastewater treatment and conveyance
• Maintain Safety precautions, and ensure that safety procedures are followed
• Assist with commissioning of new or modified plant, as well as the shutdown and start up procedures for all plants.
• Preparation of equipment for inspection as well as Monitoring and control of equipment corrosion.
• Responsible for the control of workshop equipment and tools.
• Will be required to be available for 24-hour rotational stand-by duties.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities are accurately complied with and that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed.
• Maintain all records regarding the performance of maintenance duties.
• May be required to undergo legal liability training and carry legal appointments on selected sites.
• Responsible for supervision of general workers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCE:

• Must have a minimum of 5 years proven working experience as a Millwright artisan.
• Must be a Certified Trade Test as Millwright (RED SEAL).
• Must have a minimum of Grade 12 or NQF Level 3 Qualification.
• Ideally hold a wireman’s license
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be medically fit to work on industrial and mining site
• Must have the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtime as per the role requirements
• Computer literate (MS Office).
