Mine Accountant - Trichardt at Thungela

Job Description

You will be responsible to provide monthly reporting, forecasting, and business planning functions and cost analysis support to Isibonelo Colliery. 

The main responsibilities for this position will be but not limited to:

• Direct responsibility for the execution of the financial reporting process
• Direct responsibility for Systems Management
• Ensure sound cost management processes and perform the necessary reviews to guarantee that detailed cost management supports the overall financial governance and reporting requirements
• Influence and ensure timeous delivery of accurate and transparent estimates, budgets, and forecasts to support the Business Plan
• Review overall financial performance of the various BUs through regular scheduled cost meetings and advise line managers and management on appropriate interventions to improve cost effectiveness
• Assisting the Financial Controller in the compilation of the budget and forecasts in line with Thungela requirements including Capital budgeting and forecasting
• Assisting the Financial Controller in reporting on forecasting and budgeting processes
• Responsible for the monitoring of capital spend in the company
• Assisting with the Operation’s submission of capital applications to the Investment Review Committee (IRC)
• Reconcile financial systems to ensure accurate mapping and loading (SAP, HFM, Ramesys etc.)
• Direct responsibility in liaising with stakeholders that provide general accounting, cash management, accounts payable and receivables services
• Track and coordinate the preparation and submission of all audit documents
• Add value as a business partner to the company   

This role is in the Finance department at Band 6 level reporting to the Financial Controller.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/ finance or equivalent (NQF 7)

Experience

• 5 years relevant experience in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge of Management Accounting incl. budgeting and forecasting
• A good working knowledge of SAP and HFM
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including Tax Law, Financial Accounting, Royalties Bill, Mine Health and Safety Act and Minerals and Petroleum Resources Act

Additional Information

• An Honours degree in Accounting or Finance (NQF Level 8) wil be an advantage
• Qualification or eligibility for admission to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) SA will be an advantage
