Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting Coordinator at Peace Parks Foundation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (15%):

• Ensure the Herding for Health programme has a robust results and monitoring framework that aligns with strategic priorities, learning needs, and partner reporting requirements (donors, implementing partners, etc.)
• Maintain and communicate an updated dashboard of consolidated Herding for Health impact for all sites.
• Coordinate performance monitoring for all Herding for Health sites within the Programme.
• Oversee continuous monitoring of programmatic and site-level performance in coordination with other Herding for Health teams.
• Working with GIS and M&E teams, monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and impact of programmatic activities.
• Track progress against targets and benchmarks, providing regular updates to the Herding for Health Programme unit.
• Identify and address any data discrepancies or issues affecting the accuracy of performance monitoring.
• Drive effective communication and utilisation of performance information for programmatic performance management, risk analysis, and decision-making.

Data Collection and Management (35%):

• Develop and implement standardised data collection methodologies and tools to gather relevant data from various sources.
• Supervise the deployment of spatial analysis tools, frameworks, business processes, and information systems supporting monitoring activities and related activities.
• Ensure smooth integration of these tools/systems within CI, Peace Parks Foundation and implementing partners’ monitoring platforms.
• Oversee timely and accurate data entry by Herding for Health teams into the Peace Parks MEL system, also ensuring integrity and consistency through regular data validation and quality control.
• Maintain a comprehensive and organised database for storing and managing programmatic data, as well as keep an updated calendar of reporting deadlines.

Data Analysis, Interpretation, Reporting and Visualisation (30%):

• Lead the development of Africa Rangeland Watch (ARW) – A continental monitoring platform used to track successful implementation of the Herding for Health programme across implementation sites.
• Oversee and manage the technical development of the platform,
• Provide technical support to users of the platform as needed,
• Ensure collaboration and integration with other platforms, such as Earthranger.
• Conduct statistical analyses and apply innovative data techniques to identify trends and generate actionable insights related to programmatic performance.
• Develop data visualisations, dashboards, and infographics to effectively communicate complex data to diverse stakeholders.
• Lead the design and development of the Peace Parks Herding for Health Impact Tracker webpage.
• Prepare analytical reports and presentations, aligned with the Programme’s strategic goals, to support reporting requirements, decisions and stakeholder engagement.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data analytics, integrating new approaches as appropriate.
• Drive the adoption of data-driven approaches within the Programme to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.

Evaluation, Learning and Continuous Improvement (20%):

• Build internal and partner capacity through training, technical support, and promotion of data literacy, methodological and analytical best practices and tools.
• Ensure collaboration with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning teams in Conservation International, Peace Parks Foundation and partners to share knowledge and improve data analysis practices.
• Develop and adapt evaluation plans, frameworks, and tools in line with Herding for Health 's implementation principles and learning priorities.
• Ensure evaluations are conducted in line with Herding for Health implementation framework, guaranteeing independence, objectivity, transparency, inclusivity, timeliness, and relevance.
• Assist in the design and implementation of evaluation studies, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholder engagement throughout the evaluation cycle.
• Support knowledge sharing through various channels, including reports, publications, presentations, and engagement with external networks and forums.
• Design and implement a comprehensive learning approach for Herding for Health’s programmatic work, including learning agendas, key questions and strategies for dissemination of lessons.
• Integrate lessons and findings at relevant points in Herding for Health’s strategic and operational cycles.
• Maximise learning potential beyond Herding for Health through publications, dissemination events, and other partner engagements.
• Engage with relevant professional networks and communities of practice in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning.
• Represent the Herding for Health Programme in external forums as relevant.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Advanced University degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Science, Environmental Science, Ecology and Conservation, Statistics, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in the conservation, development or natural resource management sector, including at least 2 years in monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
• Demonstrated experience with diverse monitoring, evaluation, and learning methods.
• Experience leading and managing diverse teams in dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver cross-functional projects in complex settings.
• Experience conducting advanced analyses to inform management or policy decisions.
• Track record in developing and leading cross-institutional partnerships and collaborations.
• Experience with data systems, analytics, and knowledge management.
• Established professional network in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning.
• Excellent knowledge of Theory of Change and Logical Framework Approach to programme planning, including setting measurable indicators.
• Excellent knowledge of evaluation standards, methods, and learning approaches in International Development.
• Experience in conservation, climate change, and community development.
• Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, Stata) and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio).
• Experience working with GIS and spatial data analysis tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS), including conservation monitoring systems e.g. EarthRanger.
• Experience providing training and technical support in MEL tools and methods to diverse teams and partners.
• Experience designing and implementing evaluation plans, learning agendas, and participatory learning approaches.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply insights to adaptive programme management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences.
• Strong project management skills.
