Work Output Description
The role of a Network Specialist is to primarily guide and manage the network functions within the organisation. The Network Specialist is the first line of escalation from the customer (user). The Network Specialist will interact with various departments and levels and listen to their technical needs and implement IT solutions/resolutions in conjunction with the IT Technicians in line with networking best practice. This role relies heavily on the desktop support team and selected network support partners. This role will also interact closely with and backup the Security Specialist.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics
• National Diploma / NQF level 6 in Information Technology
• ITIL Foundations Certification
• CCNA or equivalent Certificate in Networking
• 10 years Proven experience in IT support (desktop, server and or network)
• 5 years Proven experience in IT Network support – LAN/WLAN/WAN, switching, routing, and cabling.
• 3 years 1st Line Network Support

Advantageous

• Security Industry certificate
• 3 years in Security Support
• 3 years in Server Support

Skills and Knowledge

• Proven knowledge of networking/security devices, technologies, and the ability to configure, implement and support networks
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to self-manage and self-develop
• Strong problem-solving skill
• Attention to detail and Methodical
• Ability to articulate well, strong communication skills
• Seeing things through to competition, taking ownership
• Fast learner adapt to change

Physical/Legal Requirements

• Clear Credit / Criminal record
• Valid Driver’s license
• Obtain Medical fitness certificate
• Own Vehicle
