(nGAP) Lecturer: Legal Philosophy X1 (P7)- Department Of Jurisprudence at University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika

To be eligible for selection for an nGAP post, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must have achieved an average of 70% pass mark or above in the preceding degree, which should be a minimum of a Master’s degree as per the nGAP’s Terms and Conditions.
• Must be 40 years or younger.
• Be willing to commit to placement at Unisa or a full 6 years of the programme.
• Demonstrate passion to follow a career as an academic and demonstrate high academic ability.
• In addition to the above criteria, applicants must meet the following post-specific requirements:
• An appropriate Master’s degree in law or the equivalent qualification in law at NQF level 9 in the field of Jurisprudence (legal philosophy or any related discipline).
• Must submit an intention to register for a doctoral degree or proof of registration (if already registered).
• At least one (1) year of relevant teaching/research/industry experience with a strong focus in the field of Jurisprudence (legal philosophy or any related discipline).
• Commitment to successfully complete the nGAP programme at Unisa.
• Commitment to complete a doctoral degree within stipulated nGAP time frames.
• Demonstrate the ability to conduct research.
• Must submit and discuss teaching statement and a research reflection and/or portfolio.
• Good theoretical knowledge of the discipline.
• Participation in departmental, school, college, university committees, workplace committees or task teams, and voluntary associations.
• Good communication skills.

Recommendations:

• Registration for a Doctoral degree in the field of Jurisprudence (legal philosophy or any related discipline).
• Teaching experience.
• Research outputs.
• Knowledge of assessor and moderator training programmes.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of ODL and technology-enhanced learning.
