    Night Duty Manager - Randburg

    Introduction

    The Night Duty Manager at a surgical hospital is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operations during the night shift. They will be a key member of the hospital management team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective staff management, and seamless operations during the night hours. The Night Duty Manager must possess excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to handle emergencies, manage resources efficiently, and maintain a safe and productive environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee Night Shift Operations: Coordinate and manage all hospital activities during the night shift, ensuring efficient patient flow, effective staffing, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Manage any near misses/adverse events at night.
    • Patient Care Management: Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to provide top-quality patient care and address any issues that arise during the night shift.
    • Staff Supervision: Lead and supervise night shift staff, including nurses, technicians, and support personnel, ensuring adequate staffing levels and providing guidance as needed.
    • Emergency Response: Act as the point of contact for emergencies during the night, making critical decisions and mobilizing resources to address urgent situations effectively.
    • Performance Monitoring: Monitor staff performance during the night shift, providing feedback and implementing corrective action plans when necessary.
    • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and hospital policies during the night shift.
    • Communication: Facilitate clear communication between different departments, staff, and hospital leadership to ensure smooth operations and address any concerns promptly.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-effective practices to enhance patient care and optimize hospital resources.
    • Report Preparation: Generate reports on night shift activities, incidents, and performance metrics for review by hospital management.
    • Training: Facilitate training of staff during the night shift.
    • Give accurate account to management about all activities during the night.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    Qualifications

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
    • Post-graduate qualification in Nursing Administration is beneficial
    • Clear Criminal Record
    • Able to supply/provide copies of qualifications

    Experience

    • 5+ years of experience in healthcare management or a related role
    • Previous experience in a night duty or night shift management position is highly desirable
    • Knowledge of surgical hospital procedures and protocols is an asset.

    Requirements

    • Proven experience in healthcare management
    • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership position
    • Strong understanding of hospital operations and healthcare processes, preferably in an acute setting
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure
    • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the healthcare industry.
    • Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends
