OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTITIONER at Woolworths

To build a culture of safety in the workplace by setting procedures to be followed; and to minimise the risk of harm or injury in the workplace through educating colleagues and ensuring compliance to all Health and Safety regulations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and develop the Health and Safety committee structure and ensure committee meetings take place.
• Responsible for keeping up to date with and ensuring compliance with all OHS regulations
• Submission and preparation of all required COVID related reports
• Act as the COVID-19 Compliance Officer for WFS
• Responsible for investigating, reporting, and measuring the causes of health and safety incidents within WFS House and for staff working from home
• Responsible for inspecting documents relevant to safety in the workplace.
• Keep and maintain a record thereof and maintain administration relating to health and safety.
• Record, maintain, and report on safety indicators.
• Responsible for the planning and organising of any health and safety training.
• Provide WFS Management guidance of H&S legal and compliance matters.
• Maintain certification and maintain Occupational Health Audits.

KEY COMPETENCIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

• Matric / Grade 12
• B-Tech in Occupation Health & Safety Management or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• In-depth knowledge of the OHS Act and practical experience of its application
• Minimum 5 year’s Health and Safety experience on an operational level is essential
• Sound knowledge of ISO 45001
• Health and Safety within an office based environment
• Risk and Hazard Analysis experience and exposure
• Health and Safety Management systems experience in implementation and exposure
• Experience in conducting internal safety audits and inspections
