Operational Manager: Special Service at Johannesburg Water

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing and coordinating the maintenance, repair and upgrade of large valves, pressure reducing valves (PRVs), pipelines and related infrastructure, while ensuring effective operational planning, resource allocation and service delivery.
• Overseeing contractors, assets, plant, transport and operational activities, ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with organisational objectives and safety requirements.
• Lead and develop operational teams through performance management, coaching, staff development and employee relations processes, while monitoring productivity and workforce performance.
• Managing operational budgets and expenditure, controlling costs, overseeing procurement activities and ensuring the cost-effective utilisation of resources. Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company standards through safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and the promotion of a strong safety culture.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, consultants and other key stakeholders, coordinate with relevant municipal entities and service providers, and represent the function at operational and regional forums to support service delivery objectives

JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 or N3 (NQF 4).
• Fitter or Welder Trade or Bricklaying Trade Test / Appropriate Learnership NQF 4
• 5 years’ relevant experience in the maintenance of repair of large diameter valves and pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs), or equivalent technical experience in civil reinstatement work, of which at least 2 years must be supervisory level.
