Operations Manager - Brackenfell at Unitrans

Job Advert Summary    
We have a great opportunity at Unitrans for a Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end export process for fruit shipments, ensuring compliance with international regulations and standards including but not limited to:

• Provide guidance and support to export team members, including training and development opportunities.
• Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.
• Ensure adherence to quality control measures throughout the export process to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
• Prepare and analyze export-related reports and performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement best practices for risk management and compliance to mitigate potential issues and ensure business continuity.
• Manage fruit export staff and oversee the operations for both air and sea-  imports and exports and to maintain relations with all role-players in such a manner that strategic, profit and quality targets are achieved.

Minimum Requirements    

• Tertiary Qualification in Freight and Logistics
• Excellent Computer skills 
• Excellent management and human resources skills 
• Good understanding of accounting processes 
• 8 - 10 Years at senior operational level with the freight forwarding industry 
• Basic legal knowledge of contracts 
• Problem solving skills 
• Judgment and decision making skills • Strategic planning capability 
• Customer management and industry networking capability 
• Occupational Health and Safety Act legislation 
• Knowledge of vehicle applications by operation 
• Knowledge of financial management principles 
• Sound knowledge of the logistics and supply chain management environment 
• Understanding of Company Disciplinary and Grievance procedures

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Manage business strategy 
• Identify customer needs, growing the business and providing excellent customer service 
• Implementation and seamless transition of new business be it organic or external growth 
• Profitably manage all operations assigned 
• Manage all aspects of Finances within all allocated contracts 
• Effective financial management of strategic business unit 
• Manage and report on performance in respect of customers service, , revenue, costs, changes in business trends, corrective/new actions implemented, health and safety, human resources, industrial relations and asset management 
• Manage staff effectively 
• Understanding of policies and procedures in freight forwarding and clearing
