Operator Hauler - Mamatwan Mine at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

• As an Operator Hauler, you will be responsible to haul Overburden or Manganese from the applicable loading area to the allocated destination, either a waste dump, In pit stockpile or In pit crusher. Dumping could include road, ramp, safety and catchment construction.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Haulers are the primary equipment in use for transporting waste or ore material from the pit benches and moving material for constructing in pit infrastructure according to our standards;
• Ensure continuous judgement driving on the haul roads to adhere to the traffic signs and management to prevent incidents and interaction with other vehicles;
• Ensure continuous judgement entering the dumping area or In pit crusher tip to prevent any interaction with the dozer or tip walls;
• Ensure the safe distance from the dump edge is maintained to prevent reserving over the dump edge;
• Ensure compliance to the fatigue rules to prevent any fatigue related incidents, which could include interaction on the haul road, driving through the safety berm over the edge of the high wall, rolling back into another hauler whilst queuing and reversing over the dump edge or into the crusher tip walls;
• Ensure continuous judgement during ramp construction to use appropriate position to safely dump the load on an inclination;
• Opening sumps and trenches for water pumps next to haul roads;
• Removing and separating of big rocks from the muck pile;
• Close trenches for pipe columns.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in operating mobile equipment in a mining environment;
• Mining production experience in surface mining operations;

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12 (external candidates) and Grade 10 (internal candidates);
• Equipment license on CAT777 Hauler;
• Equipment license on either Excavator, CAT Loader 992, 980 or CAT dozer D8/D10, wheel dozer or grader is advantageous;
• Valid drivers license.
