Operator Process Sampling - Mamatwan Mine at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• The purpose of this role is to gather information throughout the sampling process for immediate and future decision-making during mining Processing and logistics activities, in a safe and sustainable manner, and assist the production teams with quality control information.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 with Mathematics / Grade 10 (internal candidates) with at least 1 years’ experience in sampling &/or grade control;
• Valid Driver’s license is essential;
• Computer literate is advantageous;
• Basic Sampling certificate is advantageous;
• Must be able to work shifts.
   

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Be part of the sampling teams;
• Assist with all Sampling activities e.g. Reverse circulation drilling samples and Processing Plants sampling, Loadout Samples and Stockpile sampling etc;
• Monitoring of mine and plant blending schedule compliance;
• Collection of Samples from the Pit and the dumps or stockpiles;
• Capturing of sample and quality data into database and reports;
• Ensure good housekeeping standard is maintained;
• Conduct daily inspections on machinery and tools to ensure efficient operation thereof;
• Communication of values to the respective teams;
• Assist the supervisor and respective geologist with daily tasks;
• Reporting of incidents and break downs;
• Conduct investigations into workplace incidents.
