Operator: Specialised Grader (Construction and Specialised Maintenance Region 2) - Oudtshoorn at Western Cape Government

Job Purpose    

• The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a dynamic individual to support road specialist in the maintenance and building of roads. The successful incumbent must be willing travel and sleep out weekly or as required. This post is based in Oudtshoorn.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 10 certificate or equivalent; A minimum of 6 years experience heavy machinery on road construction and maintenance; A valid code EC driving license with a professional driving permit (PDP) is required.

Recommendation    

• Experience and working knowledge in the following: Heavy machinery, including grader; Gravel and sealed road maintenance and construction; Tools and construction equipment; Construction methods and materials; Construction health and safety regulations.

Key Performance Areas    

• Operation of heavy machinery for maintenance and construction of roads; Material use and management for road maintenance, construction material and plant; Supervision and management of staff and equipment.
