Operator Wheel Dozer - Mamatwan Mine at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• This role is a fixed term contract position.
• As an Operator Wheel Dozer, you will be responsible to intermittedly level active loading benches where excavators are utilized for loading. Also, to quickly and effectively clear fly rock and spillages from road and loading surfaces.
• Dozing as part of finishing during  road and ramp construction will also be applicable from time to time.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Ensure continuous judgement to level loading floor at the correct profile;
• Ensure continuous judgement during road clearing and construction not to cut excessively deep or too much material which could damage the machine;
• Conduct the pre-shift checks prior to operating machine;
• Conduct the applicable Safe Work Instruction for normal routine tasks or Risk Assessment if non-routine tasks are required;
• Report all equipment defects or unsafe conditions to the control room and supervisor;
• Work with physical assets, plant and equipment as defined by the Operation’s standards and operating procedures;
• Execute production or related activities according to the daily mining schedule’
• Follow the daily mining schedule for the machine and meet the daily targets;
• Adhere to general Induction and site specific procedural training;
• Adhere to operator license training and operate only when competent to do so;
• Adhere to operational procedures and standards, applying safe work practices;
• Report any unsafe behavior, conditions and incidents to the responsible person.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience in Mining production and exposure in surface mining operations;
• Excavator skills within a Surface mining operation;
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Competency B certificate;
• Demonstrate knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment within a mining workplace;
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations 22 & 23.

Qualifications for this role are:

• External Candidates: Grade 12;
• Internal Candidates:  Grade 10;
• Equipment license on either CAT dozer D8, D10;
• Code 8 Drivers license.
