Packaging Technician – Howick at Accountancy Placements

• Our client is seeking an experienced Packaging Head Technician to oversee production-line performance, machinery maintenance, technical operations and team leadership within their manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, set up and optimise production lines to improve efficiency, throughput and reduce downtime
• Monitor production output, quality and efficiency, and drive corrective actions where required
• Develop and maintain production-line standards, SOPs and work instructions
• Manage preventative maintenance programmes and ensure machinery is maintained and operational
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical machinery faults
• Manage critical spares, equipment suppliers and service providers
• Identify and implement continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
• Lead, train and develop technical and production teams
• Ensure compliance with company health, safety, quality and food safety standards
• Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records

Requirements

• Relevant technical/engineering qualification or recognised trade
• Minimum 5 years’ manufacturing/production experience
• Minimum 5 years’ machinery maintenance experience
• Minimum 3 years’ production-line design, optimisation or process improvement experience
• Minimum 2 years’ people-management experience
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement is advantageous
• Good Excel and MS Office skills
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Minimum C symbol for English in Matric
