Part-time Lecturer x1 - Engineering and the Built Environment at Tshwane University of Technology

• The Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering require the services of a part-time lecturer for a period of 34 weeks (Starting January 2026). The part-time lecturer will be required to teach the subject Plastics Materials Science II (PMI307B), which is a module in the degree program BEng Tech in Materials Engineering in Polymer Technology. The subject consists of theory and practical components.

Minimum Requirements

• A Master’s Degree (MEng/MSc/MTech) with specialization in Plastics Material Science.
• Undergraduate qualification: National Diploma or BTech in Polymer Technology; BEng in Polymer Technology

Critical performance areas:

• Participate actively in subject and curriculum committees.
• Participating in departmental meetings.
• Responsible for administrative task related to teaching and learning.
• Responsible and play a prominent role in the compiling and maintenance of quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning with technology materials. Roles also includes mentorship, quality audits, constant revision, and update of materials in line with industry norms and engineering council regulations.
• Participate in and lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas.
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions.
• Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding.
• Involvement with Community engagement.

Experience

• 3 years relevant teaching experience in higher institution and/or 3 years relevant experience in industry..
• Academic/research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences.
• Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of programs, student affairs and research projects
