    Payroll Accountant (Western Cape)

    Description

    • Ensure the accurate and timely processing, payment, and reconciliation of all payroll-related financial transactions and accounts, adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Managing daily, weekly and monthly salary-related payments.
    • Ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation, payments and record keeping of all salary deductions to third parties and authorities.
    • Ensure all payroll control accounts are reconciled, balanced and posted to the general ledger.
    • Report on payroll errors and implement corrective actions and controls.
    • Resolve queries efficiently and within agreed timelines.
    • Provide support to all stakeholders to ensure service delivery standards in payroll are met.
    • Provide Payroll administrators with the required billings for payroll input.
    • Apply for tax directives electronically. 
    • Issue annual tax certificates.
    • Ensure all monthly, bi-annual and annual  tax returns are accurately reconciled and timely submitted to the relevant revenue authorities (including BLNE countries).
    • Manage team performance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to manage the payroll finance function effectively.

    Requirements

    • B. Com or related qualification (with Accounting Major)
    • 5 years of experience within a complex payroll environment, reconciling control accounts
    • Computer Literacy: Sage 300, Google Suite or MS Office (with advanced Excel)
    • Knowledge of payroll legislation (Income Tax, Employment Tax Incentives, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Sectoral Determination, PAYE, UIF, etc., as well as guidelines and best practices
    • Experience with monthly and annual statutory payroll returns
    • General understanding of employee benefits, provident fund and medical aid regulations and administration
