    Payroll Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Payroll Creation, processing and administration (VIP Payroll and /or manual calculations)
    • UIF – Ensure employer registered, ensuring deductions processed for all relevant employees, declared to DOL and payments submitted.
    • COIDA – Ensure Employer is registered, Completion of Annual return of earnings, submission, payments and obtain LOGS.
    • EMP 201 – Ensure client is registered for PAYE, SDL and UIF. Link all taxable income, EMP201 submitted and payment to SARS timeously
    • Bi-Annual and Tax year end EMP501 and IRP 5 data administration, reconciliation, declaration and submission timeously
    • Leave management – Knowledge of BCEA leave and ensure Client’s leave policy complies, and administer leave records and reporting
    • Process PAYE, UIF, SDL and COIDA Registrations, if applicable
    • (If not applicable: Act as back-up and assist clients with guidance/documents required for registration)
    • 3rd Party administration, reconciliation and process of payments
    • Distribution of Payroll Journals, Reports and statutory reports to internal departments
    • Electronic fund payment administration
    • Bank Reconciliations
    • Build and maintain professional client relationships (Internal and External)

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 with a qualification in payroll/ remuneration tax e.g. National Diploma in Tax
    • 3-5 years of experience in an external payroll / remuneration administration environment
    • In depth knowledge of remuneration tax
    • Knowledge of BCEA
    • MS Office (sound proficiency in Excel & Word)
    • In-depth Knowledge of VIP (Premier)
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Proven experience with SARS Easyfile & SARS E-filing
    • Experience in drawing reports from VIP via ODBC or FLEXI reports
    • Payroll creation and methods of calculation on SAGE PREMIER VIP
    • Electronic Fund transfers
    • Bank Reconciliation and administration
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
