An opportunity is available for an experienced Plant Manager to take overall responsibility for the management and performance of a 24/7 water treatment plant in Evander, Mpumalanga.
This is a senior operational role suited to a technically strong manager with extensive experience in water treatment operations, including Reverse Osmosis and membrane technologies, combined with proven capability in people management, plant performance, financial control, contract management and Health & Safety.
The successful candidate will assume overall accountability for the site, ensuring that the plant operates safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, operational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the water treatment plant.
Lead, manage and support the plant operations team.
Coordinate and oversee plant maintenance activities.
Manage stock levels, chemical requirements and chemical ordering.
Coordinate supplier deliveries and related site requirements.
Manage invoices, operational expenditure and site costs.
Apply sound technical knowledge of water treatment processes, including Reverse Osmosis and membrane technology, to plant operations.
Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and operational performance.
Prepare comprehensive operational and performance reports.
Manage contractual obligations and ensure compliance with agreed contractual terms.
Manage and maintain site Health & Safety standards and requirements.
Ensure compliance with applicable operational processes, regulations and safety standards.
Manage budgets, resources and operational planning.
Maintain strong professional relationships with the client and relevant stakeholders.
Ensure effective management of a plant operating on a 24/7 basis.
Minimum Requirements
Engineering Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; OR
Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Science.
Minimum 7 years' experience in water treatment operations.
At least 3 years' management experience.
Proven experience managing a 24/7 water treatment operation.
Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, regulations and safety standards.
Sound technical understanding of Reverse Osmosis and membrane technology.
Proven experience in contract management.
Proven experience in financial and cost management.
Strong understanding of management principles, including:

Own reliable vehicle.
Valid driver's license.
