Plant Operator: Water Treatment Works at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Grade 12 or relevant post-matric qualification, preferably a NTC3 in Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment.                  
• Trade-related qualification: Operator’s Certificate/Waste Water Treatment Practice (N3).
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
• One to two years’ experience required.

Special conditions associated to the position:

• Incumbent is required to work in all weather conditions.
• Incumbent is required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime.

Job purpose:

• Attending to activities related to water treatment process through the application of specific instructions relating to operating procedures and processes, checking plant performance, conducting of tests and executing approved corrective measures to address deviations, and attending to the removal and disposal of debris from components and/or operating sections of the plant to ensure process outcomes complies with standards and prescribed specifications and optimum operating functionality is maintained.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
