Proficient in basic Backfill and Gold plant operations with at least 2 years practical experience in related environment
Successfully completed Thickener, Leaching and Gold plant operational courses
Knowledge of basic Cyanide Management standard operating procedures (International Cyanide Management Institute)
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure health and Safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
Perform inspections in accordance with the MHSA regulations and company standards
Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation health safety environmental security policies and procedures and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
To carry out task specific to the area of responsibility
Print Job Cards and distribute to the relevant foreman on a weekly basis
To conduct mock drills
Be willing to work overtime as required and FULCO
To always maintain good housekeeping
Relining is part of the duties of a section operator
Daily conveyor belt inspections and maintenance
Assisting with plant condition monitoring
Follow the smelting process and produce gold to the correct purity level
Ensuring compliance to the Mines Health & Safety Act and related Standard Operating Procedures, and Codes of Practice
Accurate and timeous reporting of all relevant safety and production matters
