Job Advert Summary    
PURPOSE:

• To perform maintenance tasks on infrastructure and equipment.
• To maintain and manufacture assets, equipment and surrounding area infrastructure to minimise adverse impact on production.
• Support staff with maintenance, manufacturing and overhauling of all machinery within a mining environment.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Plater/Welder MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
• N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE:

• Applicable technical maintenance experience within a heavy industry, production, mining, plant or workshop environment 2-3 years Essential/Minimum Operational

REQUIREMENTS:

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence: On the Job MQA Modules Asses (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities    
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management

• Render professional customer support services
• Communicate with clients and direct superior to share information on duties performed

Equipment Operations and Control

• Inspect and repair assets/equipment and surrounding infrastructure
• Perform condition monitoring/testing/fault finding/problem solving
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Assume responsibility for maintenance/new installations, manufacturing and maintain records
• Maintain relevant equipment
• Overhauling, maintenance, repair manufacturing and breakdown repairs on all machines or equipment via welding work
• Oversee, assist and support maintenance jobs of support personnel

Inspection and Control

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the various welding procedures and processes used on the mine
• Inspect all tools, equipment and instruments prior to use
• Inspect all vehicles, machines and mechanical equipment to identify defects
• Report defects immediately
• Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects
• Specialised welding (Stick and CO2 welding in different positions)

Material/Resource Planning and Control

• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally
• Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance, manufacturing and new installations in functional area
• Contribute to cost savings by effective management of materials and resources by adhering to prescribed operational requirements

Routine Work Management

• Receive, complete and return job cards
• Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman
• Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides/trainees to improve their skills
• Management of Job Management System Safe and Healthy Work Environment
• Adhere to all health/safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis Address all unsafe practices, potential hazardous situations and rectify and report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) and technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times

Technical Support

• Read and interpret drawings
• Perform hands-on maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns
• Conduct technical evaluations of equipment
• Perform stand-by duties and training of personnel, when required
• Fabricate structures and components
• Improve production process sketches, welding plans or specifications by means of grinding, cutting, sandblasting, painting etc
• Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure
