Job Advert Summary    

• The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Mechanical Foreman and will provide support in the Mechanical Maintenance team to ensure accurate, timely, well-presented, and reliable plant status information to management for planning and decision-making with regards to PLC, HMI, Networks and SCADA systems in Vereeniging Pumping Station. To perform PLC, HMI, Networks, and SCADA systems maintenance, troubleshooting, faultfinding, and programming modifications.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Degree/B-Tech in Electrical (PLC and Automation)Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA serves as advantage.
• 6 years’ experience in the PLC and automation maintenance improvement environment.
• Good experience with PLC, SCADA systems andand networks.
• Competent with Wonderware In Touch SCADA software, Modicon PLC software, Modsoft, Concept, XBT, Panel mate (HMI) and Unity.
• Knowledge on communication networks such as optical fibre systems, serial communications, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, Modbus and Modbus Plus.
• High degree of computer literacy.
• Code 08 driver’s license.

Primary Duties    
The incumbent will ensure availability of an effective plant and continuous water supply to customers. The critical functions will include:

1. Monitor and control budget within specified percentage savings.
2. Provide advisory support towards achievement of commercial equity.
3. Report on variances and provide actions to be taken.
4. SCADA system fault diagnostics and repairs (software and hardware)
5. Commission HMI/SCADA & PLC installations (Site)
6. Maintain PLC (software and hardware)
7. Ensure timeous updates are loaded into the version control server.
8. Maintenance of SCADA system servers.
9. Communication Networks/Telemetry maintenance.
10. Operational Technology (OT) Plant Network availability.
11. Ensure good communication is maintained with the IT department and advise management.
12. Work under the Design Office guidance for upgrades affecting the system design.
