Matric - a focus on sciences such as Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Agricultural Business would be of advantage.
Certified crop adviser certification may also be required.
Needs to be fully proficient in both Afrikaans and English.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a similar level
Previous experience of working within an agricultural industry is beneficial.
Previous manufacturing experience a must.
Duties
Implement actual work of grid and contour differential global positioning systems for soil sampling, developing information maps, recommendation maps and yield maps.
Implement variable rate application systems of lime and nutrients.
Clear understanding of income statements and budgets
Implement practical application of record keeping and nutrient management plans
Marketing precision agriculture program to producers with minimum annual sales
targets.
Set up sales meetings within sales area which offer an opportunity for sales and improved public relations
Provides technical service and recommendations to patrons and prospects based on proficient knowledge of fertilization/ chemical calculation and other formulations
Assist customers in installing and calibrating their precision equipment
Provides training for other retail employees in precision ag
Handle customer concerns and complaints
Interpret satellite remote sensing to identify and map field variability
Using GPS and soil test zones, locate fields by legal land description and perform soil
