    Principal Analyst Developer

     

    • A Principal Analyst Developer is a very knowledgeable, results-driven, experienced and high performing individual who has a vast amount of delivery experience at FNZ.
    • This role requires an expert evel knowledge of FNZ platform capabilities and technologies. From their experience, they will have worked across multiple FNZ clients and have a proven delivery record. They are extremely capable individuals who are regarded as experts within the Analyst Developer team.
    • They must have an exceptional ability to analyse complex system changes, design databases, write complex financial business logic and create slick web applications. Regarded as experts within FNZ, they will influence and support others to ensure that all system changes are developed to a high level of quality and best practice is adhered to.

    Specific Role Responsibilities

    Consultation & Collaboration

    • Collaborate with others across FNZ Group to ensure that solutions developed are robust, maintainable and in-line with the requirements;
    • Responsible for ensuring that code is designed and built in a reusable manner. Promote opportunities for cross-project system design / solutions.
    • As an expert, provide pro-active technical consultation to other developers and FNZ project teams.
    • Be a key authority on system design and architecture to influence best practice. Be able to validate and scope effort required for any project globally, objectively and accurately
    • Take accountability and be personally responsible for complex designs, development and product ownership

    Analysis & Design

    • Work within the constraints of the feature/user story to define the underlying design required to deliver these changes
    • Ensure the solution is well defined and fit-for-purpose. It must meet the requirements and work end-to-end.
    • Provide solutions and recommendations for the resolution of technical issues that arise and ensure solutions meet the technical specs and design requirements;
    • Help design and build APIs and external system interfaces for integration into core FNZ products and third-party vendor applications;

    Development

    • Highly mobile across the organisation, able to move as required across all FNZ projects and able to immediately add value
    • Interpret complex financial business requirements and translate into high-transactional, high-availability, secure, working systems;
    • Design and build the highly intuitive user interface and interactive financial tools required by financial advisers and investors;
    • Develop real-time transaction processing systems that support millions of trades every day in investment securities in multiple world markets;
    • Able to build high complexity features end-to-end
    • Expert in multiple system/technical areas of the FNZ platform, regarded as an SME in these areas.
    • Familiar with Information Security best practice and standards with the ability to apply these throughout technical development
    • Contributor to global non-client specific projects to advance key technical strategies across FNZ.

    Quality

    • Establishes best practice for defect mitigation and resolution within their project team and in the wider solution centre.
    • Develops and inspires others to take a proactive and preventative approach to defect management.
    • Adheres to the defined procedures for code management, code reviews, coding standards, naming conventions and security standards;
    • Write automated unit tests for any newly created code; and
    • Perform manual testing to ensure any changes made to the system are of a high standard and the system hasn’t regressed.
    • Perform code reviews for developers on their own and different projects, inside the solution centre, to ensure that proposed changes meet quality and best practice standards.
    • Able to design new core system functionality or completely redesign existing ones.

    Communication

    • Promote the development team both internally and externally. Ensure that creative solutions, tight code, tough problems solved are called out appropriately to the developer community, and where they lead to visible outcomes, to the broader FNZ teams and clients; and
    • Provide solution centre-wide training, as required, on topics of personal expertise.
    • Identifies gaps in knowledge and areas of improvement for integrations. Help to drive training and enforcement of standards in order to improve non-functional quality of integration solutions.
    • Able to prepare and lead technical workshops internally and/or involving clients and/or vendors.
    • Actively identifies and drives technical training in the solution centre. Has a global focus and finds ways to propagate knowledge around FNZ Group.
    • Leader of leaders - actively mentors and coaches other senior members of the development team, whether through formal line management or through another arrangement.
    • Leverages excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to advise stakeholders and positively influence technical decisions both internally and externally.

    Technology

    • Expert authority in C# and .NET – keeps actively up-to-date with progression in the technology and looks at ways to effectively bring it into use.
    • Proactively resolve technical (environmental, coding and testing) issues that impede development progress. Assist in the resolution of technical issues when requested by other developers; and
    • Create novel solutions to problems by incorporating cutting edge technology or concepts.

    Experience Required

    Industry Knowledge

    • First class bachelors degree or higher and/or equivalent experience;
    • Experience of working on large scale technology delivery projects and successfully delivering technology change as part of these projects;
    • Confident, and able to take a lead role in a delivery-focused environment;
    • Experience of working with different levels of stakeholders within a project environment;
    • Expert in the FNZ platform & technologies;
    • Independent, self-directing working style;
    • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic fast-paced industry;
    • Enjoy working as part of a high-performance team;
    • Hard-working, innovative and takes pride in their work; and
    • Passionate about creating innovative solutions for customers.

    Required Knowledge & Skills

    • Expert in Microsoft .NET development products, including .NET, C# and SQL Server;
    • Expert in web development, including ASP.NET, JavaScript and ReactJS;
    • Experience with the following legacy development products would be beneficial: ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, legacy .NET Framework versions.
    • Understanding of financial products and markets;
    • Understanding of web services;
    • Familiar with code analysis or automated testing tools.
