Principal Architect, Enterprise Infrastructure at Exxaro Resources

PURPOSE:

To develop the Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture Strategy as input to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Strategy, including relevant security architectures. To develop and maintain longer term view on ICT architecture, with goal of ensuring fulfilment of business requirements in most efficient way, leading to low total cost of ownership. Develop and maintain Information and Communication Technology policies and Enterprise Information and Communication Technology standards for the enterprise infrastructure and security environment. Investigate Enterprise Infrastructure and security solution trends and develop and maintain a solution lifecycle plan. Responsible for conversion of requirements into architecture designs yet securing the organisation from harmful intrusion. Act as Enterprise solution expert to provide guidance and facilitate decision- making on changes throughout design and delivery process.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Essential/Minimum or)
• B Degree (Hons) (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

• 8-10 years Information Management industry experience with strong technical knowledge. Extensive experience in building Enterprise architecture frameworks (Infrastructure, Security)       (Essential/Minimum)   Operational

Duties & Responsibilities    
Architecture Framework    

• Develop, maintain and communicate conceptual architecture frameworks
• Inform and advise Information Management (IM) on Enterprise infrastructure and security technology, product and vendor trends
• Develop Proof-of-concepts for each technological innovation
• Benchmark and best practice investigation of architecture framework and principles
• Approve solution design
• Optimise Life cycle planning for enterprise assets
• Facilitate collaboration across areas to exploit Information and Communication Technology (ICT) synergies and avoid duplication
• Define technical standards and guidelines pertaining to, security, access and governance for all information and integration frameworks
• Facilitate consistent archiving and recovery strategies and security
• Responsible for the integrated systems analysis and recommend appropriate cloud solutions, and communication links required to support Information Management goals and strategy
• Support with the resolution and documentation of issues that arise in the architecture
• Be responsible for the overall performance, standards and direction of Cloud architecture domain

Best Practice and Knowledge Management  

• Identify and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to improve systems and processes
• Share knowledge with stakeholders
• Responsible for relevant governance forums to educate and ensure compliance in line with Architecture framework, principles and standards with Solution Architects
• Involved in IM governance forums for advisory purposes

Business Performance and Operations    

• Set Architectural vision and direction aligned with IM strategy
• Develop and maintain long term view on ICT architecture
• Provide architectural and strategic consulting
• Analyse emerging technology and trends and assess business fit and viability of technology trends
• Develop ICT Policies, standards, procedures and guidelines
• Identify ICT risks and develop risk mitigation action plans
