Qualifications and experience required:

• Grade 12.
• Two to five years’ relevant experience.
• Computer literacy – MS Office applications.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
• The incumbent will be required to supervise the technical procurement function to ensure an effective and efficient procurement services with the budgetary framework in terms of Council policy.
• The incumbent must have knowledge of the Municipality’s procurement procedure for tender specification compilation, obtaining quotations and tender documents.
• The incumbent will be required to liaise with fire and emergency services officials and purchasing and supplies stores for dealing with queries/complaints/requests relating to procurement matters.
• Market research, new product service, tender advertisement, report-writing, stakeholder engagement and management.
• Expenditure and financial control, requisition approval, project site and final product inspections.
• Record-keeping and administration.

Physical requirement of the post:

• The incumbent sits most of the day with occasional standing and walking.

Job purpose:

• Procuring technical services and equipment for the fire and emergency services branch of the Safety and Security business unit.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
