    Principle Specialist : Logistics Operations

    Role Purpose

    The main purpose of this role is to ensure the effective forward and reversal of all project equipment in line of the agreed service level, ensuring that all movement is conducted on SAP EVO within Vodacom SA.  The role holder will be responsible and accountable to implement, manage, control and optimise the end-to-end equipment issuing and reversal including asset disposal recovery process for all network warehouses.  Compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations will be critical.The position will have to work in cross-functional teams including procurement and sourcing, regional warehousing, technical and finance. The candidate must have the ability to navigate a complex warehouse and inventory environment, this will enable the business to deliver on our customer promise and achieve our profit / cost targets
     

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Health and Safety 

    • Ensure that all relevant health and safety legislation are implemented and adhered to.
    • Ensure contractors / suppliers adhere to Vodacom safe working conditions and other relevant occupational, health and safety regulations. 
    • Thought leader in environmental issues and matters in Logistics.

    Impact on the business and stakeholders

    • Lead the business to implement and manage an asset recovery and disposal process.
    • Drive excellence in logistics execution.
    • Implement and maintain an asset and disposal process that is financially sound and complies with Vodacom / Vodafone accounting standards.
    • Maximise the recovery of equipment for re-use.
    • Maximise the revenue generated from assets disposed.
    • Manage third party suppliers on transport, warehousing and waste management.
    • Manage the revenue and cost of disposal.
    • Ensure products / equipment are available in accordance to the plan.
    • Manage the supply chain risks and costs across various channels and ensure compliance to good governance and control.


    Teamwork & Communication 

    • Works closely with 3rd party logistics and warehouse providers to ensure optimal economical services and execution in line with service and performance levels.
    • Create strong levels of trust with internal stakeholders.
    • Create sustainable relationships 
    • Document benefits achieved and report monthly.
    • Prepare clear and precise operational progress and status reports.
    • Engage senior stakeholders to drive process compliance and improvements.
    • Manage and communicate operational issues and performance to stakeholders.

    • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and innovation.
    • Create strong levels of trust with internal stakeholders.
    • Create sustainable relationships 
    • Optimise the forward and reversal of equipment issue, recovery and disposal process through innovative ideas and solutions.
       

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:
    Matric (essential)  

    • 3 year relevant degree or diploma 
    • Min of 10 years relevant experience - clearly defined, in depth and job specific of which 4-5 years should be in field of logistics.
    • Experience of working within Supply Chain.
    • Strong Financial acumen.
    • 3rd party contract management.
    • Strong operational and management skills.
    • Health and Safety related to waste and hazardous material management and disposal.
    • Fixed Asset Register management and disposal processes.
    • Logistics and warehouse management
