An established manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Process Technician to maintain and optimize its process control and instrumentation systems. This hands-on role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to plant reliability, automation support and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the optimal functioning of control and instrumentation components throughout the manufacturing facility.
Manage calibration records for process scales and weighbridges.
Calibrate and monitor process scales, electronic weighing systems and weighbridges.
Calibrate and oversee the proper functioning of electronic flowmeters.
Develop and update process control drawings for maintenance and projects using Microsoft Visio.
Plan modifications and alterations to Beckhoff I/O lists.
Submit updated I/O information to the relevant system integrator.
Assist electricians with automation fault-finding, including after-hours standby support when required.
Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programme.
Complete related technical and administrative duties accurately.
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, including Industrial Control Systems as a subject.
At least five years’ post-qualification experience within a factory, plant or similar manufacturing environment.
Practical experience in industrial instrumentation and process control systems.
Experience with electronic weighing systems and PLCs.
Knowledge of variable-speed drives and soft starters would be beneficial.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience creating or updating technical drawings using Microsoft Visio.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Excellent attention to detail.
A balanced approach to hands-on plant work and technical administration.
Valid driver’s licence.
Ideally residing in Paarl or the surrounding area.
