Procurement Manager at Talent Network

Key Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will be required to perform the following duties (amongst others):

• Managing and setting the purchasing budget
• Negotiating of national contracts for raw materials and packaging
• Negotiating of Shipping Rates with the relevant Shipping & Forwarding Agents.
• Developing and monitoring specifications for raw material and packaging in conjunction with relevant players
• Sourcing and maintaining suppliers that supply quality raw materials and packaging cost effectively
• Creating and maintaining a supplier database that is BEE compliant and in line with BEE standards
• Managing team performance, by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve departmental objectives
• Establishing and maintaining constructive relationships with all relevant players, thereby ensuring that raw materials and packaging are given the desired attention
• Staying abreast of, advising on, and implementing (where effective) relevant technical improvements in the purchasing processes, price negotiations and management of the raw material and packaging budget
• Monitoring the adherence to ISO 9001 purchasing procedures across the group and amongst suppliers where relevant
• Setting up National and Regional purchasing contracts for various raw materials
• Maintaining effective financial controls and reporting structures
• Advising the relevant Executive of possible savings opportunities, risks and alternatives
• Effectively forecasting raw material and packaging requirements with relevant people
• Developing and implementing group and regional centralised purchasing processes for all purchasing
• Developing and controlling Tender processes with Suppliers.
• Establishing and maintaining optimal contractual relationships with all suppliers.
• Manage and drive organisational cost and savings process

To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following criteria:

• A Bcom Degree in Finance or Supply Chain Management
• Preferably be a certified purchasing manager
• Be in possession of a Tertiary Purchasing qualification (Supply Chain or Purchasing)
• Have at least ± 10 years’ experience in a commercial purchasing environment
• Have at least 5 years’ experience in a management position
• Be conversant with SAP systems
• Have a strong head for numbers and an ability to interpret figures and date
• Have proven outstanding negotiation skills+
• Have above average computer skills specifically Excel
• An ability to communicate effectively at all levels
