Procurement Officer - Implementation at Shoprite Group of Companies

About the role    

• The Procurement Officer (Implementation) is responsible for coordinating the efficient, cost-effective procurement and successful rollout of Fixtures, Fittings & Equipment (FFE) across the business.
• The role supports the Implementation Lead by managing procurement activities, supplier coordination, order fulfilment, distribution, installation oversight and stakeholder communication.
• The incumbent ensures that required equipment and materials are sourced in accordance with approved specifications, delivered on time, installed correctly and utilised effectively, while maintaining strong supplier and stakeholder relationships and ensuring governance, compliance and accurate record keeping throughout the procurement lifecycle.

What you'll do    

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Source and obtain competitive quotations from approved suppliers, ensuring value for money while maintaining required quality and specification standards.
• Coordinate the evaluation and approval of samples with the FFE team to verify compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
• Raise, track and manage procurement requests and purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and project execution.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to support service delivery, issue resolution and continuous improvement.
• Order Management & Administration
• Maintain accurate and auditable procurement records, including quotations, purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes and supporting documentation.
• Monitor order progress and proactively communicate delivery timelines, risks and potential delays to relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with payment processing, supplier reconciliations and resolution of invoice or payment-related queries.

Project Implementation & Rollout

• Coordinate the supply, distribution and installation of FFE equipment across stores and operational sites.
• Track project milestones and rollout activities to ensure implementation programmes are delivered on time, within budget and according to specification.
• Verify installation quality and compliance with approved standards, escalating deviations where required.
• Support operational teams to ensure equipment is effectively utilised and any post-implementation issues are resolved promptly.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Provide regular reporting on procurement activities, project progress, expenditure, supplier performance, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency and successful project outcomes.
• Maintain clear, accurate and professional communication throughout the procurement and implementation process.

What you bring    

Essential

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Procurement, or a related field.
• Experience in procurement, project coordination, implementation or supply chain operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including intermediate Excel skills. Preferred
• Experience working within retail, operations, or FFE-related environments.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, equipment schedules and procurement documentation.
• Experience engaging with multiple internal departments, suppliers and contractors across various locations.
