    Product Architect

    Description

    The role:

    Summary:

    The Product Architect is the main technical interface between DS&T, Product Managers who represent business stakeholders and (where applicable) outsourced service providers. As a member of the Product Steering Committee, the Product Architect represents DS&T to guide product strategy, define scope and prioritise work, manage product backlogs, plan and execute sprints, and coordinate QA and deployments for products within their portfolio.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Understand product vision and business needs to define requirements and architectural solutions for portfolio products.

    • Engage with Product Managers and business stakeholders to clarify objectives and identify functional requirements for portfolio products.

    • Engage Analysts to document technical requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria based on business needs pertaining to portfolio products.

    • Maintain portfolio product roadmaps and backlogs (product owner).

    • Work with the Project Manager to identify, plan and track milestones and resources.

    • Liaise with, coordinate and oversee internal and external human resources to implement sprints utilising appropriate agile methodologies.

    • Assist with technical implementation where necessary (and where capacity allows) including writing code, performing code reviews, writing tests and other implementation-related activities.

    • Facilitate engagements between DS&T team members and business stakeholders (as necessary) to resolve queries, clarify requirements and agree on deliverables.

    • Coordinate engagement with other DS&T pods where appropriate (e.g. where new integration endpoints are required).

    • Work with Software Quality Manager to perform SIT, regression testing and coordinate UAT (with Product Managers) to validate that deliverables meet technical and business expectations.

    • Work with DevOps Manager to plan and execute deployments into production environment providing business impact context. Perform post-deployment validation and regression testing as necessary.

    • Maintain technical documentation relating to the portfolio products.

    • Triage escalated production issues relating to portfolio products and coordinate resolution with the Software Quality Manager.

    • Assist with issues that require technical expertise or complex systems knowledge relating to portfolio products.

    • Develop deep knowledge of portfolio product domain, ecosystems, alternative options and proactively make recommendations on product direction.

    Requirements

    Advantageous:

    • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

    • Minimum of 5 years software development experience (full stack)

    • Minimum of 5 years business analysis experience

    • Minimum of 3 years DevOps experience

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Proven organisational abilities

    • Problem-solving aptitude

    • Strategic thinking

      • Agile project management experience and/or certification

      • QA experience and/or certification

      • Experience managing development teams

      • DevOps management experience
