    Product Development Technologist

    Job Description

    • Our client is looking for a dynamic Product Development Technologist to join their technical team.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, modifying and optimising flavour systems in line with customer requirements, market trends and application performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Formulate new flavour systems based on customer briefs, application requirements and market trends.
    • Modify and improve existing flavour formulations.
    • Develop and adjust application formulations to meet specific customer requirements, with a focus on sweet flavours.
    • Compound laboratory samples and support product scale-up where required.
    • Conduct and participate in sensory evaluations and panels.
    • Source, evaluate and approve new raw materials and ingredients.
    • Compile product specifications, formulation records and processing methods.
    • Collaborate with sales teams and customers to interpret briefs and develop suitable technical solutions.
    • Ensure formulations comply with relevant regulatory and food safety requirements.
    • Manage multiple product development projects and meet deadlines.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Food Science or a related field.
    • 2–5 years' experience in flavour or seasoning product development.
    • Proven hands-on experience developing flavours – non-negotiable.
    • Experience within a flavour house, seasoning manufacturer or similar environment.
    • Experience with sweet or savoury flavour development, with a strong focus on sweet flavours advantageous.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Strong communication and organisational skills.
