    Product Owner

    The role

    Valenture intends to change the face of education forever. To do this we are leaning into challenges that haven’t been solved before. This is meaningful work! When moving quickly and reaching into the unknown to create something new we need to make sure that we continuously seek and create clarity. And that will be the ultimate role of the person that we bring on board as our new Product Owner.

    As a Product Owner at Valenture you will act as the interface between the Technology team and broader business stakeholders to lead the process of discovering and creating clarity around user needs. After having translated this understanding into functional and technical specs, the PO will work closely with the dev team throughout the development cycle so that they remain well informed with the context and clarity they need to build solutions that work and importantly...delight our customers.

    Day-to-day responsibilities include:

    • Voice of the customer
    • Leader of the team
    • Member of the team
    • Be the primary link between business stakeholders and the software development team (internal and external), ensuring business objectives are translated into high quality, working software that delights customers
    • Define, prioritize, and drive the realization of specific product vision.
    • Be the point person on the product development team, using high-level perspective to define goals and create a vision for development projects.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to make sure the goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives
    • Make sure that there is buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy and clear instructions and deliverables for the developers
    • Collaborate with an organisational wide, cross-functional team to define and execute against product roadmaps and release plans.
    • Create, prioritize, maintain and own the product backlog based on the overall strategy and business objectives, including the definition of epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Ordering the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals and prioritize business needs.
    • Map out project dependencies to inform the necessary sequence of development.
    • Collaborate with the software development team to motivate and guide them to delivery.
    • Ensuring the development team understands items in the product backlog to the level needed. Break down epic-level user stories into detail-level stories consumable and testable by a scrum team.
    • Implement quality assurance processes, ensuring all deliverables are thoroughly tested and meet a high quality standard
    • Solve product-related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
    • Draft key objectives and results, strategies and apply the data for the product to make business decisions.
    • Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.

    Requirements

    • 4 years of professional experience
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to present complex ideas simply
    • Experience and knowledge of software development process
    • Extensive understanding of the Agile development process and best practices
    • Knowledge of the principles of product management
