Job Description    

• Join Lactalis at our Bonnievale Plant in the Powder department with the main responsibilities to manage drying towers, evaporators, and whey and milk separation plants. Sound knowledge of chemical concentration test.   Successful candidate must have 3 years experiences in manufacturing of Whey powder & Skim milk powder. Must have recognised NQF 4 qualification.     Must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of food quality and full adherence to all Safety & Health policies, procedures and legislation. Be fluent in English and be computer literate (advance excel skills and MS Office).

Required Skills    

• Gr12 or equivalent.
• NQF 4: Dairy Manufacturing Technology (powder)/ Production technology/Occupational certificate: Dried dairy Product Maker/Skills programme Dried dairy Product maker                                                                     
• Minimum of 3 years experiences in manufacturing of Whey powder & Skim milk powder.
• Computer literate (advance excel skills and MS Office).
• Planning, organizing and staff motivation skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Exposure to or sound knowledge of the production environment is essential.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Technical knowledge of Powder making equipment.
• Knowledge of CIP systems.
• Able to handle pressure.
• Motivate subordinates.
• Good leadership skills
• HACCP and ISO exposure
• Excellent communication skills at all levels
• Accuracy and punctuality essential
• Ability to work and make decisions under pressure
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, long hours, weekends and public holidays
• Willing to work in an extremely environment conditions.

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Production of whey- and milk powder
• Manage drying towers and evaporators
• Ensure that production paper work is completed
• Supervise the separation of cream
• Ensure that Health, Safety & Quality is adhered to by the team.
• Evaporation of products
• Filling and stacking of powders
• Operating, planning and continuous improvement
• People and performance Management
• Development of people assets in the team
• Ensure that time keeping is managed through KRONOS
• Ensure that employees are productive in completing all tasks & filling all demands
• Maintain good housekeeping standards and adhere to any other requirements (e.g. HACCP, ISO22000, NOSA, 20 Keys, etc.)
• Learn to operate Lactalis systems such as BPCS, including all relevant interlinked programs like WM9.
• Cleaning and hygiene of workplace.
• Analyse all daily production results to identified problem areas.
• Ensure minimum waste in department.
• Maintain communication structures and SGA.
• Motivate subordinates.
• Testing of chemical concentration on a daily basis.
• Monitoring separation process on different machines, clarifier and milk separator, big and small.
