Production Geologist - Kathu at Anglo American

Job Description:

As a Production Geologist, you will provide service as required and your responsibilities will include: 

• Ensuring geological models, such as the Grade Prediction Model and Final (Digline) models pass audits by peer review and external consultants to provide for the inclusion of all geological data as per required standards and material class specifications.
• Ensuring models are completed within agreed timeframes to ensure operational delivery can be met.
• Incorporate all available geological data according to standards to ensure interpretations are acceptable to all role players and to enable decision-making.
• Ensuring sufficient validations of material types, class and drill hole information with in-pit inspections in the field as well as spatial validations within the models.
• Ensuring that you are reachable on standby and that dawn patrol with grade control officers take place when on standby.
• Ensure sufficient support to relative stakeholders within the value chain during normal working hours as well as on standby. Ensure accurate logging of Geological material from drill hole information.
• Managing a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Keeping environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.

Qualifications:

• Degree in BSc Geology
• Honours Degree In Geology or similar fields (Advantageous)
• Registered (full) with SACNASP (Advantageous)
• Registered Member GSSA(Geology Society Of South Africa) (Advantageous)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Red Permit (Advantageous)

Experience:

4 years operational experience in the Geology environment
