Production Manager at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A leading manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Production Manager with strong experience in CNC and manual machining environments to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will oversee all machine shop operations, including production planning, quality control, team leadership, maintenance coordination, and cost management, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily machining operations, ensuring optimal machine utilization and timely delivery.
• Liaise with planning departments and manage production schedules.
• Monitor machining parameters, tool selections, programming, and scrap rates.
• Lead and mentor supervisors, setters, and operators, driving skills development and performance.
• Ensure strict quality control and collaborate with the Quality department to resolve issues.
• Coordinate preventative and breakdown maintenance, ensuring machinery uptime.
• Ensure compliance with OHSA and promote a strong safety culture.
• Monitor production costs, consumables, and raw materials, driving lean initiatives.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and contribute to strategic planning.

Requirements:

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
• Trade-tested Artisan (Fitter & Turner, Toolmaker, etc.) with management experience may be considered.
• 8–10 years’ experience in CNC/manual machining with close tolerance machining.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ management experience.
• Experience with production planning software and ERP systems.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tolerances, materials, and tooling.
• In-depth knowledge of CNC (milling, turning, grinding) and CNC programming (FANUC, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
• Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement practices.
