Production Shift Supervisor (Randfontein) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in a production environment, with 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• National Diploma
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Good problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
• Knowledge of production processes and quality standards
• FEL Certificate
• Experience with production planning and scheduling
• Flexibility to work different shifts as needed
• General knowledge of maintenance discipline
• Safety, health, environmental and quality training
• Working knowledge of ISO standards

Duties / Responsibilities

• Guarantee and enhance compliance with OH&S policies and standards for shift team
• Demonstrate strong H&S leadership to develop safety culture among shift team
• Identify and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during production activities
• Understand the safety and health regulation and responsibility of legally appointee
• Manage and improve the performance of the shift teams ensuring competencies and skills development
• Manage people, (behaviour, availability, performance)
• Perform one on one discussion, (performance management, IDP, objectives settlings and reporting)
• Train team members to be competent on respective assigned tasks
• Review Safety Operating Procedure and communicate to the team members
• Develop a legal documentation record for safety improvement
• Enforce discipline to improve production output and sustainability of operations
• Plan and organize shift activities to meet product quantities, within the quality requirements, according to budget
• Organize and manage shifts of production staff
• Ensure the availability of raw material
• Ensure the availability of resources required for performance of the shift
• Sustainable methodology to execute production preventative majors to sustain performance
• Improve walk about inspection and quality of the report
• Proper shift handover and follow up on issues discussed
• Alignment of daily plan and what is required to successfully perform duties during the shift
• Coordinate with plant stakeholders to plan maintenance activities to fulfil market requests and ensure customer orientation of shift team
• Monitor performance of the shift in order to reach, or exceed production targets, and to achieve quality and environmental standards
• In collaboration with relevant functions (Maintenance, Process, Quality …) implement actions to improve operations performance
• Manage execution of third parties under its responsibility (e.g. housekeeping, handling, refractory works
• Understand the production operation and troubleshooting of problems within operation
• Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by the Supervisor
• Adhere to the group’s health and safety rules
• Understand and comply to the group’s health and safety standards
• Ensures the safety of laboratory equipment
• Participate in all health and safety campaigns
