    Job Advert Summary    

    12 months (starting approx 1 July 2024)

    • This programme is perfect for unemployed South African youth (18-28 years) with a passion for the hospitality industry. This programme brings together elements of food and drink preparation as well as supervision.

    Modules include:

    • Describe the sectors of the hospitality, travel and tourism industries
    • Maintain A Secure Working Environment
    • Maintain A Safe Working Environment
    • Provide First Aid
    • Maintain Health, Hygiene and a Professional Appearance
    • Maintain Hygiene in Food Preparation, Cooking and Storage
    • Handle and Maintain Knives
    • Clean food production areas and equipment
    • Clean food production areas, equipment and utensils
    • Clean & store crockery and cutlery
    • Maintain and promote food hygiene in the kitchen
    • Maintain the cleaning programme for own area of responsibility
    • Maintain the cleaning programme for kitchen areas and equipment
    • Handle and store food
    • Handle and maintain utensils & equipment
    • Accept and store food deliveries
    • Maintain the receipt, storage and issue of goods
    • Maintain food production operations
    • Maintain food production quality control systems, procedures and specifications
    • Maintain supply levels
    • Prepare and cook basic soups and sauces
    • Prepare and cook basic meat and poultry
    • Prepare fruit for hot and cold dishes
    • Prepare vegetables for hot and cold dishes
    • Prepare and cook basic fruit dishes
    • Prepare and cook basic vegetables for hot and cold dishes
    • Prepare and cook basic vegetable protein dishes

    Minimum Requirements    

    • South African citizen
    • 18-28 years old
    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Reside in Durban (Kwazulu Natal) or surrounding areas

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Attend scheduled learning interventions and workplace experential learning.
