Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty Nursing: Occupational Health and Safety)
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in Occupational Health Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in Occupational Health Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification as mentioned above. Or a post graduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Occupational Health Nursing.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC Occupational Health Nursing (R212). OR A 4 -year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post graduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Occupational Health Nursing.
Duties
Provide Occupational Health clinical services as required (promoting Health, Safety and Wellness in the workplace) and manage IOD and occupational diseases processes at facility level. Render an effective and efficient Administrative System and Control for the Occupational Health and Safety Service. Conduct Risk assessment audits and manage medical surveillance programme Participate in training programmes in conjunction with People Management and Training Departments as required. Provide supervision and advisory services on all Occupational Health and Safety matters for the hospital.
