    Professional Nurse - Parktown

    Description

    Strengthen selected public health facilities in South Africa to be key population friendly and provide dignified quality services to key populations. Coordinate and facilitate key population sensitisation training for health facility staff. Train, assess and mentor health facility clinical staff on quality clinical care for key populations. Coordinate training and mentoring on KPs with Districts, sub districts, facilities, and other stakeholders in the provinces. 

    Technical Work Responsibilities

    • Conduct baseline assessments at identified health facilities.
    • Write and consolidate baseline assessment reports.
    • Coordinate and facilitate key population sensitisation training.
    • Identify gaps in clinical guideline implementation at facility level and develop plans to address these.
    • Implement training plans for KP programme.
    • Facilitate courses according to plan at high quality.
    • Assess participants learning during courses and via assessment processes.
    • Train clinical and non-clinical staff guidelines, changes and new modules as required.
    • Ensure all completed registers, assessments and evaluations are returned marked and files according to protocol.
    • Monitor the delivery and quality of training/mentoring at facility level.
    • mentor clinic staff on KP service provision.
    • Be knowledgeable and up to date with key populations.
    • Coordinate and facilitate key population sensitization training.
    • Be able to adapt training module to accommodate all staff categories.
    • Manage all activities required for the implementation of the project.
    • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the South African Nursing Council and the Health Professions Council of South Africa
    • Advocate and enforce the rights of key populations and maintain cultural sensitivity.
    • Be flexible and work with the team.
    • Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the project.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor of Nursing Degree/ Nursing diploma with experience
    • Certified NIMART,
    • HIV/AIDS Counselling and Management Certificate or Similar

    Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities  

    • Certification in HIV Management and Quality Improvement
    • Facilitation skills
    • 2 years clinical mentoring and facilitation experience and experience in assessing learners/ participants.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical and working in public health sector.
    • Understanding of key population HIV prevention and treatment in South Africa
    • Qualification or experience in training, mentoring and project management and quality improvement methodologies.
    • Exceptional organisational, administrative, and effective communication skills
    • Orderly systematic approach to tasks
    • Ability to work with wide range of stakeholders.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
    • Ability to speak various official languages.
    • Able to prioritise own workload and work towards deadlines.

    Requirements

    • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Valid SA driver’s license and own vehicle
    • Ability to travel when required.
