A Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse plus a post basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
Current registration with SANC is a requirement. A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Must be computer literate. The candidate must be conversant with the Maternal Care Guidelines, the HIV Guidelines, the data required for maternal and neonatal health.
Must work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the nursing profession and public employees. The successful candidate must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Actively participate in decision-making, actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to maintain patients and relatives respect and dignity.
Duties :
Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within a professional/ legal framework. Effective utilisation of Human and Material resources.
Participation in training and research. Provision of support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development. Promotion of a scientific, high-quality nursing care that is cost effective and efficient.
