    Professional Scientist: Terrestrial Ecology

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Senior Certificate Plus a Natural/Environmental Science degree (Bsc) (Hon) or relevant qualification.
    • Compulsory registration with the SACNASP as a professional Natural Scientist.
    • 3 years post qualification natural scientific experience.
    • A valid driver’s licence is required.

    The following skills, knowledge, and attributes are required:

    • Knowledge of Relevant legislation and frameworks Natural Scientific Professions Act,
    • Project Management,
    • Scientific Methodologies and Models,
    • Research and Development, Legal Compliance, How to create a High-Performance Culture, Data analysis,
    • Policy Development and Analysis, Scientific Presentation, Mentoring, Strong planning, coordination, and project management skills,
    • Financial and budgeting knowledge, including technical and financial reporting,
    • Good interpersonal relations, ability to work independently and in a team, ability to work under pressure, and
    • Computer literacy.

    DUTIES:

    • Develop and implement terrestrial ecology methodologies, policies, systems and procedures to strategically support the Programme Perform terrestrial ecology scientific analysis and regulatory functions.
    • Conduct and initiate terrestrial ecology research and development projects.
    • Supervise technical support staff and facilitate human capital development initiatives
