    Project Co-Ordinator and Document Control

    Job Purpose    

    • To effectively co-ordinate with all trades, workshops and sections to ensure smooth workflow while meeting the daily targets whilst optimising costs and compliance to quality and safety standards. The incumbent will be responsible ensuring that task cards are signed, stamped and completed accurately and posted daily after the task has been performed.  

    Principal Accountabilities    
    Co-ordinate the entire aircraft base maintenance check and or ADHOC checks including CKCs and special projects. 

    • Manage project resources within the contracted framework/project scope in order to ensure on time delivery.
    • Manage the overall project schedule for on time performance of the project.
    • Drive quality standards to ensure internal company quality standards are enforced to deliver quality product to customers.
    • Determine and manage critical paths to avoid project slippage.
    • Maintain customer satisfaction at highest level and keep customers informed on the progress and status of their projects.

    To manage the project budget in line with SAAT Operations’ strategy/objectives

    • Review the project budget in line with SAAT operations’ strategy/objectives.
    • Drive profitability by managing and optimizing the project budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed and approved budgets.
    • Liaise with customers to agree and monitor expenditures outside the project/contract scope.
    • Confirm the issuing of invoices to customers as per contract.
    • Oversee the validity of over and above tasks and man hours in line with the project scope of work.

    Monitoring and control of the maintenance check in progress

    • Ensure all stakeholders are familiar with the plan, daily progress and material status. Achieved by daily reports, progress meetings and liaise with relevant parties.
    • Ensure that task cards are issued daily to the maintenance team as per phase and the workflow plan.   
    • Ensure that the daily project workflow planned targets and milestones are met and the critical path is followed.
    • Reschedule tasks not accomplished or not completed and also readjust the workflow plan without affecting the project end date.
    • Ensure that all additional work from Maintenance Planning or Customer request is approved by the Project Leader before it is added to the work pack. 
    • Co-ordinate and control over and above component schedule work, accident or incident maintenance. Minimising downtime with the least or no impact on aircraft flight schedules.
    • Liaise with other departments regarding components required due to deviation from the plan, which will affect the aircraft schedule, including Aircraft on the Ground situations. Assist in minimising impact on aircraft schedule.
    • Negotiate additional component work onto an existing aircraft maintenance or workshop schedule and notify all relevant departments of any possible impact on workflow, material, manpower and aircraft downtime.
    • Ensure completed task cards are returned to Production Control on daily basis, all steps are signed, stamped and all required documents are attached.
    • Ensure tallying of Workorder steps is done on daily basis and notification is sent out for all outstanding signatures.
    • Ensure that all project documents are correctly compiled and quality checked before completing the CRS and aircraft logbooks.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Full shop certified Type 2
    • Operations Management (Of which 4 years in a Supervisory Position in aircraft maintenance)These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously

    OR

    • Operations Management (Of which 5 years in a Supervisory Position in aircraft maintenance) These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously

    OR

    • Aviation Maintenance 
    • Must have passed an Aviation apprenticeship and trade test. 
    • Must have worked in an MRO for at least 12 years.
    • Must have held company approval (certification) for more than 24 months,
    • Must have 3 years’ experience as a Senior Licensing Technician or Team Leader or a Quality Auditor/Inspector 
    • These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously

    Plus

    • Computer literate (MS Office) – Ability to construct effective presentations /management reports - Essential

    Knowledge and Skills    

    • Comprehensive knowledge of Regulatory requirements. SACAA, EASA and FAA.
