    Project Engineer - Bryanston

    A day in the life of a Senior Project Engineer:

    • Define the project scope, success criteria, and  milestone deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Build the investment project charter that includes the resources plan including a multifunctional  project team required to accomplish the project manufacturing excellence targets.  Ensure available standards and best practices, as well as understanding of current category loss tree are revised as part of the  project planning , to ensure that  project design credit (AIP) will be efficiently utilized.
    • Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability and reliability). Ensure by design the workers, and operators, safety during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant.
    • Support the design team to accomplish the basic and detailed design, whilst mobilising all the required resources and liaising with stakeholders. Lead VSED activity and coordinate the preparation of supply chain concept. Support the Development of an Operation Start-up Plan to ensure a Vertical Start-up can be achieved. Ensure the required design reviews are effective and collaborative to gain final alignment on the basic design.
    • Ensure that the engineering side of the project is implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment erections, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the URS and the characteristics of a unit operation. And that all of the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) in performed in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and that a vertical start-up is assured. Select and qualify contractors and coordinate their activities. Ensure that Nestlé standards are applied.
    • Support the start-up manager and their team to ensure a smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.
    • Contribute to and support the preparation and distributing the engineering project documentation, including the engineering part of the project final report and provide feedback to the Maintenance Prevention System. Keep all the required communication channels open.
    • Be the project team leader, meaning integrating, motivating, feed backing, coaching, developing, managing and evaluating team members and being their support and liaison with the steering committee and all the project's stakeholders. Define the project change management plans. Determine the need for change requests, and either approve or reject changes as authorised or submit them to the SC.  Ensure that the highest principles of ethical conduct on behalf of the community, consumer, company and the engineering profession are adhered to. Keep all stakeholders informed and trigger extraordinary steering committee meetings as needed. Keep all the required communication channels open. Ensure that the procedures for protecting Nestlé's technological and proprietary knowhow are in place and actively being implemented.

    • 10 years’ experience in FMCG managing Engineering projects
    • Degree/Diploma in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, E&A, Process, Industrial engineering, or similar
    • Openness and curiosity for dynamic and future trends in technology, new business ideas and opportunities.
    • Pride in contributing to the reputation and the performance of the Company
    • Willingness to accept change and the ability to manage it. Continuous Improvement mindset.
    • Factory operations experience
    • Operations & Start-up Leader experience
    • Participation in a Early Management, MCIP and NGHE workshop
    • Preparation of a major CAPEX project submission (NIMT)
    • Integration of project teams; definitions of roles and responsibilities (resource management)
    • Project planning (as per PMI definition)
    • Effective communication at different levels of the organization (Business, Management, R&D, etc.)
    • People development and management tools (including PDP, coaching, competences training, career and succession planning, recruitment, and development)
