Project Engineer at McCain Foods

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead and manage the project function at the Delmas plant to ensure projects are planned and implemented effectively in line with the Key Elements of Engineering. To manage projects from application for capital, implementation, budget control, commissioning and verification of the CSF. To ensure all legal and company safety requirements are adhered to.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and manage successful project start up: On Time, On Budget, and delivering against agreed scope and critical success factors.
• Supervise and manage specific projects from planning to execution and commissioning as required within project specifications.
• Follow McCain standard Procurement processes including contract documents and involvement of purchasing.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety, and quality assurance procedures.
• Selection, management of contractors for all engineering work.
• Implement and sustain the Key Element of Engineering modules.
• Ensure compliance to all statutory requirements and McCain policies and systems.
• Provide technical support to the Engineering & Production departments.
• Participate, lead and support all improvement activities, Kaizen, Safety Quality Deliver Cost (SQDC), Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) etc.).
• Efficient use and upkeep of the ERP system by getting Maintenance planner and Engineering buyer involved during installation of new equipment so that preventative maintenance schedules are loaded and critical spares are purchased

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum requirement is a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Mechatronic), 
• A minimum of 5-years’ experience in  a similar role
• Proven experience in manufacturing technologies, project management & construction management.
• Solid Leadership, strategic planning, execution and change management skills.
