    Project Manager: Strategic Partnerships, Comms & Advocacy (PM: SPCA)

    Objectives of Role

    As the PM: SPCA you will be responsible for performing the following activities:

    Stakeholder Management

    • Assist with stakeholder mapping; identify collaboration opportunities; monitor and report on stakeholder, sector and other politically significant activities.
    • Identify, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with key players within the sector.
    • Coordinate stakeholder engagements, communication and reporting as it relates to the functional area

    Grant Management

    •  Assist with the development of a funder strategic framework and proposals with yearly objectives and programmes.
    • Maintain a Data Management System to house all Funda Wande strategic partner agreements and related information.
    • Plan, coordinate and manage all partner activities, engagements, and reporting (monthly, quarterly, and yearly) requirements on behalf of Funda Wande

    Communications & Advocacy Initiatives

    • Design and manage Funda Wande’s internal and external communications plan.
    • Develop and manage Funda Wande’s advocacy activities and inputs as required, incl. events, research, and communications.
    • Develop content & campaigns for all relevant digital platforms, incl Op-Eds, thought pieces, research.
    • Monitor, track, and update Funda Wande’s overall communications portfolio including social media, website, and other communication platforms.

    Talent Management

    • Ensure talent management and development planning for the unit (i.e. job descriptions, recruitment & selection, onboarding, performance management, wellness management, training and development, discipline and responsibility, talent engagements, etc.) is in place and carried out in accordance with all HR Policies and Processes for both internal and independent contractors - in consultation with /support of HR team.
    • Effectively manage service providers according to Funda Wande guidelines.

    Budget Management

    • Input into the Annual Budget and ensure financial planning, tracking and reporting on the Budget for the unit (i.e. plan, schedule, and cost activities according to allocated budget), incl.
    • Budget for the unit (i.e. plan, schedule, and cost activities according to allocated budget).
    • SPCA Unit’s budget holder and sign off per set thresholds for procurement of goods and services (e.g. materials, independent contractors, office equipment, courier services, etc.) on planned activities.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Relevant degree and/or diploma in Education / Development Studies / Project Management / Media/ Journalism / Finance, Operations, Communications, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience at a similar level coordinating similar projects within philanthropy, education, or development sector.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Candidates should be able to craft clear, concise messaging for different audiences.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills are crucial for handling multiple tasks, deadlines, and campaigns.
    • Strong understanding of the South African education sector
    • An understanding of ethical considerations in communication, including issues like privacy and honesty, is essential.

    • An interest in and alignment to Funda Wande’s vision and values
    • Be extremely organized, multitask and have effective communication skills.
    • A high level of understanding of project cycle management.
    • Considerable experience in budgeting/financial procedures.
    • Proven ability to provide technical support and guidance to a diverse team.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of key aspects of development work within education.
    • Experience monitoring processes and systems in new and rapidly growing organizations.
    • Great team player and high degree of emotional intelligence.
