    Project Manager

    About the job

    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon budget, timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Set project timeline
    • Monitor project deliverables
    • Update relevant stakeholders or team members on the project progress
    • Coach and support project team members with tasks you assign them

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • Strong business acumen in project planning and management
    • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills

    Project Management -:

    •  Overall management and supervision of projects in line with sponsor requirements and the scope of work (SOW).
    •  Renegotiates commitments and deadlines as circumstances dictates, ensuring no surprises as the expected completion.
    •  Selects solutions to basic problems, considering predefined options and using clear criteria/procedures.
    •  When predefined solutions are not applicable, identifies straightforward and practical solutions.
    •  Responsible for ensuring those outcomes are evaluated and that problems have been resolved.
    •  Initiate meetings with sites to discuss activities and EQA performance, provide updates, discuss and resolve issues.
    •  Generating reports to senior management.
    •  Project Budget management including costing, quotes creation, procurement and referral lab selection.

    EQA Program -:

    •  Call external laboratories for EQA samples
    •  Ordering of laboratory supplies.
    •  Prepare slides and ship to participating laboratories.
    •  Real time update of EQA slide stock list.
    •  Participate in internal and external EQA programs
    •  Training of site staff on EQA programs

    Training and Development -:

    •  Design and provide training interventions to site staff in line with project protocol requirements.
    •  Utilise new techniques in conducting on-site and offsite remote training for staff.
    •  Provide remote support for submission of EQAs, review of NCs and providing interventions to improve site staff working abilities.
    •  Identify and provide training for new methods/laboratory techniques in diagnostics.


    Required minimum education and training

    • National Diploma in Biomedical Technology or BSc Medical Science
    • Professional body registration
    • HPCSA registration

    Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

    •  Certification in good clinical Laboratory practice (GCLP) is required
    •  Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft office and an understanding of business principles & areas of business
    •  Ability to work independently
    •  The scope of responsibilities associated with the role is broad and demands achievement of a wide-ranging number of deliverables simultaneously
    •  Client interaction and negotiation
    •  Must be able to operate in a pressurized environment
    •  Experience working as a medical technologist/technician/scientist
    •  Will be required to interact with various internal stakeholders e.g., IT, LDMS, laboratory staff and other project managers.
    •  Communicate well - verbally and in writing.

    Required minimum work experience

    • Minimum 5 years in a medical laboratory environment
    • Minimum 3 years project management experience
