Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas

The position is held within the department of Legal Services, reporting to the Proctor. The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

• Coordinating and prosecuting matters in the Student Discipline Court and the Vice Rector’s Tribunal.
• Analysis of legal documents.
• Providing oral and written legal opinions and/or advice.
• Conducting investigations.
• Drafting of contracts.
• Review and amendments of policies, rules and regulations.

Minimum Requirements
 (Qualification and Experience)

• The appointment requires a highly organised and self-motivated candidate who is : 
• In possession of an LLB or similar legal qualification.
• At least 3 years’ experience in legal practice as a practising attorney, practising advocate or legal advisor. 
• Experience in conducting prosecutions.
• Proficiency in any of the Nguni languages would be advantageous.
