PURPOSE

• An exciting opportunity exists to strategically source the right products and services through effective application of commodity sourcing best practices, conducting procurement events, establish supplier leverage and contract negotiations, contract implementation and management, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership while maintaining and improving quality, service and technology.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Commodity Sourcing

• Ensure adherence to the group-wide Procurement Strategy as determined by management.
• Ensure achievement of best total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Apply and manage cost reduction and price containment strategies to comply with CPI/CPA/SEIFSA and other applicable indices
• Facilitate improvement and/or development of standards and commodity standardisation (where applicable) with end users.
• Act as an interface between Fraser Alexander’s end-users, stakeholders and commodity suppliers, contractors, consultants and service providers.
• Advice users on Procurement Policy, Procedure and Methodology
• Oversee continuous improvement of said processes and policy and procedure.
• Ensure all impacted areas and people are aware of and adhere to defined processes and policy and procedure.

Bidding and Evaluation

• Prepare invitations to tender (ITTs), requests for quotations (RFQs) in accordance with the procurement objectives.
• Issue ITT to the market and facilitate clarification sessions between Fraser Alexander and suppliers.
• Manage and coordinate tender evaluations in accordance with pre-determined tender evaluation criteria and parameters and tender validity period.
• Compile evaluation reports and submit to appropriate delegation of authority (DOA) to obtain required mandates.
• Ensure compliance to statutory and government requirements.

Contract and Supplier Management

• Identify best suppliers based on business requirements.
• Define and manage key supplier relationships.
• Negotiate best prices and contract/purchasing terms with key suppliers.
• Resolve supplier queries.
• Set-up and finalise contract documentation including the contracts.
• Obtain contract sign-off by all parties.
• Ensure compliance to governance in all aspects of procurement and contract management.
• Conduct contract reviews in accordance with defined criteria and frequency.
• Ensure departmental and stakeholder understanding of B-BBEE requirements and how this affects Procurement Policy within the group.

Ad Hoc Projects

• Work on special/ad hoc projects as and when required.
• Participate on system-level workgroups as and when required and contribute positively to the cohesiveness of the Procurement team.
• Consolidate demand management to secure supply.
• Allocate workload and monitor progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Purchasing, an Honours Degree will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE

• Five to seven years previous purchasing experience with responsibility for delivering financial savings
• Experience in mining, mining services or construction would be advantageous
