• Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of all tools, equipment, and resources, ensure compliance with
• Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
• Assist the Process Engineer in developing and maintaining the ISO9001 procedures and work instructions for the QC laboratory
• Test product and record data concerning materials and and product according to the ISO9001 quality system.
• Ensure all testing is completed within defined turnaround times to support production and release activities.
• Implement and maintain the calibration requirements for the QC laboratory according to the ISO9001 quality system.
• Maintain production and QC records accordingly.
• Making up of lab samples.
• Evaluating products for shelf-life extensions.
• Supervising production batches as and when required.
• Participate in trials for new raw materials, formulations, or process changes.
• Conduct root cause analysis for quality deviations and customer complaints.
• Identify non-conforming materials or products and initiate corrective actions in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures.
• Address audit findings related to laboratory activities within agreed timelines.
• Comply with SHE of the organisation and ensure good housekeeping practices.

Is this job for you ?

• The ideal candidate must have completed a Matric and must have a Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or related qualification (aligned with SAQA requirements) Candidate must have at least three years’ experience in a quality control laboratory, preferably in construction chemicals, coatings, adhesives, or cementitious products. Exposure to ISO 9001 systems in a manufacturing environment would be ideal and SAP experience would be advantageous. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of laboratory test methods for construction chemicals, as well as basic understanding of cement, polymers, admixtures, and chemical formulations and will be required to record accurate data recording and report writing. Candidate must be comfortable to work shifts.

• This role will assist the quality laboratory with the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials and products at the a.b.e manufacturing plant in Isipingo to ensure compliance with approved specifications, customer requirements, and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements, while supporting continuous improvement and safe laboratory practices.
